The independent Audit commission  announced that Labour-run Durham County council had retained its 4-star 'Excellent' rating for the quality of services and value for money it provides.

In contrast, the Lib Dem run former Durham City council received just 2 stars in its last assessment.

Local councillors elected are responsible for all local services including key services like local schools and care for the elderly. The Lib Dems can't be trusted to deliver these services to high standards that people living in Durham deserve.
